What's your favorite Christmas recipe?

We all associate Christmas with the delicious food that we eat, and all the different family traditions we have. One of my family traditions is making and decorating a traditional Christmas cake, soaked in brandy of course, made well ahead of time with a secret recipe my mum still keeps a secret.

But, my favourite baking tradition is making Christmas Shortbread, this traditional buttery recipe is easy to make and is super delicious. Make them as a Christmas treat for yourself, for Santa or they make great gifts. My secret to making this recipe is using traditional Dragon Welsh Salted Butter!

Here’s how I make mine:

Ingredients

  • 150g caster sugar
  • 300g Dragon Welsh salted butter
  • 400g plain flour
  • 50g cornflour

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C, Gas Mark 3
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until it becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Sift in your flour and cornflour and mix to form a stiff dough.
  4. Tip out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1cm thickness and use your desired cutters to cut into shapes, I like to use festive shapes.
  6. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake fore 15- 20 minutes.
  7. Once out of the oven I like to sprinkle them with a little caster sugar, alternatively you can decorate them with icing or chocolate.
